tinyteddy- possibly, but the role of the CMO would have been to run the trials, get the data, ensure patient safety and eventually get it presented or published. He seems to have done that. TBH when I heard him on investor calls he seemed pretty impressive. Perhaps it's a simple as he decided to move on. And note: the CE is a regulatory submission, so it would usually be up to a company's regulatory people to ensure they understand guidance and requirements, what's needed for approval, how stuff needs to be presented to a regulator etc.
