It's nice to read but I disagree with your sentiment about modern day actors.

IMHO Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) - He'd love to kill Nazis, and guys like like John Rambo (Stallone) and Major 'Dutch' Schaeffer (Arnie) really want to save POW. These actors are frustrated heroes having to save the world in imaginary worlds we call the movies, but they have the grace not to fight non threatening oil and resource wars that are the only real possibilites they have to shoot up a few baddies.

After the movies, Arnie became governor of California because it needed saving. That guy is a hero.
