I don’t necessarily agree with that. The ABC are obliged to provide fair coverage during an election campaign. They are not providing that, and instead are slanting coverage to favour the government. Examples are:
- continual coverage of the infamous Albo gaff compared to bugger all coverage of the multiple scomo gaffs (dole payment amount, mr speaker etc)
- editing out the mr speaker references in scomo speech
- saying that albo was booed at bluesfest when the opposite is true
- not asking scomo the hard questions about policy, rorts etc
- manipulating albo’s worlds to be more negative (pk did this after interviewing Albo)
etc etc
then there is the very lack of coverage and follow up by all media outlets to the hard and current questions:
- the prayer room incidents (where is that in the news)
- the michael Towke (sp?) story
- Alan tudge (and multiple incidents)
- Barnaby (where do we start with him)
etc etc
simply put, the coverage is not fair and many major stories about the LNP - that would topple a government in a normal setting, are not being covered at all, or being swept under the rug.
there just seems to be bigger things or bigger elements controlling the narrative, and I am surprised that the abc is following this script too.
