Ebola is an issue, the locals (and there's 250 million of them) believe its (and blame it on) white people, bad spirits, superstition etc resulting in many murders and sacrifices to the gods. Oh and add a few active volcanoes that release poisonous gasses in the lakes, only feeds the superstitious beliefs. In fact anything they cannot explain gets blamed on the nearest easiest anomaly whether it be a dog with one white ear or a monkey looking at the moon. There's 200 different ethnic groups, 10 provinces, perpetual civil unrest, AID's, high infant mortality rates (again most likely blamed on anything but facts) The kids dont start school until they are 12, Islam has had an influence, but so did the British and the Germans way back when. In short - this is why progress is slow. On the bright side, when a demographic such as this changes to a positive stance and attitude, the job will come good. I better go sacrifice a small white fluffy kitten to help (That's humor BTW)
