Yes they can Yield presure. And in some ways rightly so. However, the moment that happens, i.e, US presure upon other countries to buttress the $US, "somehow" -in a free world- people will find ways to "abandon", the $US, by converting it to another (strong) currency (very doubtful...) or, more than likely converting it (buy) gold. To give you a more tangible example: What would you do, if you knew, the company (any one) you are holding shares in, is artificially, (and by other non free market means), attempting to keep the value of its shares high? Would you not be among the first to .....exit the registry of that particular company?
