I think that the problem some people have is that they have randomly bought shares and see significant swings in price and automatically think that something is wrong (fear). This is not investment. If this is the case, then there is no concept of value.

If you have a strong feel for what something is worth and others are willing to either offer you more at a cheap price, then you are inclined to buy as they are virtually giving you money. If alternatively others are willing to buy your shares at a price that is too good to be true, you might be inclined to sell them some.

Always remember that price is what you pay, value is what you get.
