What Hope is there for Aborigines., page-45

The Qld government has form here. I used to work in the then Department of Local government and Housing. One of the things we did was provide Aboriginal Housing out west.
Our guys used to consult with the Aboriginals to ensure the houses built were appropriate for there use. Wide shady verandas all around etc etc.
Did not take them long to rip of all the timber walls and use them to light fires in the living room. Sure enough they burnt the houses down. Their fault!!
Now if it had been you or me who did that we would probably get a jail sentence and have to pay to rebuild the house.
NOT SO. We rebuilt the houses to the Aboriginal specifications again!!!!!
The media savvy Aboriginals were quick to point out to the local and international media the shocking state of Aboriginal housing.
How stupid are we?? And how do you expect the Aboriginals to learn respect.
And yes I have been to Palm Island and partaken of housing inspections there.
IMHO I think we should present them with a bill of over $100 Million dollars for the money we have wasted on them and continue to waste on them.
