I was one of those kids. A mate and I were digging a bunker in a sand dune over the course of a few days on a fairly desserted beach near a caravan park we were holidaying in. He left for lunch while I continued on. I heard the sand give way and managed to throw my arms over the lip of the bunker as it collapsed around me. I luckily had my arms free and just my head poking out and so was able to breath. I tried to pull myself out but there was tons of sand on top of me. I was screaming blue murder hoping someone would hear me. Several people walked by close to the ocean but did not hear me. It wasn't until I started swearing that I got someone's attention. He went for help and it took several adults to dig me out while being careful not to let the sand above me collapse any further. I think I was about 10 at the time. That's the scaredest I have ever been.
