Timing is everything Rockme. If other industries were booming along, and redundant workers could gain other employment, ARI would be left to the market. However, SA has Holden closing in 2017 (costing thousands of jobs directly and indirectly), ASC may not build subs (more jobs lost) , mining jobs in SA are on the retreat, AND I have read in the last fortnight alone of two Adelaide firms closing (over 100 jobs lost). At this point in time, ARI jobs are too important for SA which is why state and federal governments will step in and support.
