I know a lot of people in you situation Doc............despite what a lot of people make out there aren't too many people making good profits in this market. I'm profitable but certainly had some of it clipped in the past few weeks.......suppose it depends on how you trade.........I'm a med-term trader (most trades that I keep last around a year or two) and my core holdings (eg CRS,ION,NTG,HWI........each around 12-15% of my portfolio) continue to perform albeit at a slower pace.
The only traders making big money seem to be very short term traders and those doing well with derivatives.......which I'm sick of personally . Hope things can turn around for you.........but you're not alone.
