TCI In many respects better to hand back the keys and start again.
Alot more destructive to be forced to hold onto negative equity - look at Japan /Ireland etc
Nothing as good as contracting an economy like being loaded with a debt and spedning the rest of your life paying of an asset worth less than your debt.
Not handing back the keys means the falls will be slower and more prolonged, not that they will not happen
