Guido, are you referring to spes stocks like ANZ? RIO maybe? Investing in them using LVRs of even 40% would see you deep in trouble if you got in a year ago.
As has been explained numerous times, the LVR limit on specs was 10% under the Opes margin lending facility. This allowed people to have a flexible portfolio, while curtailing risk.
My LVR was 20% in total and portfolio mostly comprised top 300 stocks. I would never had a margin call, even in the current climate and my situation is not unique.
20/20 hindsight is marvellous, isn't it...
