I am a longterm BTU holder having invested in the early days and have watched the shennagins of F&B and Co.
I am not going to discuss the obvious economic benefits that BTU would bring to a region which is still recovering from a horrific natural disaster, these we are well versed in.
What amazes me is that F&B seem to have utter contempt for the victims of this disaster and the financial benefits that BTU can bring which would go a long way in assisting the region and its residents to get back to a semblance of normal life.
Lets also ignore the longterm environmental benefits that BTU will bring, such as the predator eradication program, these according to F&B are irrelevant, no doubt because they do not meet the F&B agenda.
I am also not going to ask the question of F&B, do they practice what they preach, eg carpool or defer buying new products (whether it be a car, house or even piece of steak) each of which has a carbon cost.
We must respect that F&B are exercising a legal right, which is fine. However to exercise a legal right comes at a cost and I consider that as in any democracy you should be accountable for your actions and any associated costs.
I call upon BTU to seek full recovery of all legal costs that they have incurred as a result of F&Bs, in my view, vexatious actions. I would like to see BTU double the amount of these costs (meeting the additional amount from the company's pockets) and donate this amount to a charity to the benefit of the victims of the earthquake.
The only beneficiary then is the local community.
Cheers
