People don't have to take my word for it, as @salpetie also said, have a look at Izok, Back River, and High River come to mind - all discovered in the lat 20th century..

Back River (B2 Gold) - very high grade discovery early 2000s? even late 1990s?, permitting began 2012 serious construction begun 2023
Hope Bay (Newmont->TMAC->Shandong then forced divestiture to Agnico Eagle) - too hard for Newmont and Agnico Eagle still stalled
Izok & High Lake (MMG) - discovered in 1970s, road and port still in Canadian planning and permitting as of 2019

As can be seen from the above - not exactly a walk in the park logistically and permitting for even the big guys.
