the Biblical account provides evidence he did not die on the cross
1. short time spam
2. legs were not broken
3. a Centurion was present, possibly the Centurion who was a disciple after he helped his Son
that said, he was probably a yogi of great spiritual power, thus was able to meditate to the point of extinguishing discernible breathing
he actually did plan the event; it was not beyond his control
whether he died or not does not change his core message of 'resurrection', which is the ability to be 'reborn' from a life a sin ('death') into a life of love & joy
please keep in mind the word 'death' does not necessarily refer to physical death but, instead, for the most part, spiritual death
also bear in mind he was a reformer and he obviously existed because his religion created a small & growing frenzy throughout the Roman Empire, even if the message may possibly have become somewhat perverted to an otherworldly heaven rather than internal heaven on earth
as a reformer, his message about resurrection or rebirth from sin (i.e., 'death') rather than the Jewish religion of being condemned & outcaste for sin
in the West, he was a reformer
