this article gives a good alternative theory. In a nutshell, jesus survived the cross and later died in Kashmiri India. But, the Church has based its entire superstructure upon the case that Jesus died for our sins on the cross so to countenance another perspective is beyond the inflexible keepers of the faith. Maybe once the world comes to some kind of agreement about who shot JFK, they can take a look at the whole Jesus thing.
