Oil has also allowed us to over populate.
think about this, in the old days, 100 years ago (really is not long) towns and citys were small, people lived near where they worked. and local farms supplied the towns ok .
however thanks to energy and cheap transport we could start grouping things together.
ie take Melbourne, approx 3million people living in a small area.. there is no farms capable of supplying Melbourne in Melbourne.
People can travel to work 40km away and not give it a second thought.
This allowed over population because you can have high volume of people together as they can leave the area quite easily to go to work. and they need no farm land as that can be done anywhere in the country and brought in.
in 20 years, if oil is a rare energy, it will be too expensive to import food from 1000 - 2000 - 3000km away from the other side of the country, it will all have to be grown locally.
people wont be able to afford to drive 40km to work, and will need work in their own town.
take a town like Frankston in Melbourne, there is not enough work there for the population of Frankston, and there is no farm land to feed Frankston.
People will need to start to grow their own foods to help cut down on bills, and also need to work local to cut down on bills..
there is not enough land for this! especially with people buying 300m blocks for their house.
population issue is going to get quite worse.. and i think crime rate will go through the roof over this as unemployment will be extreamly high, as well as starvation.
buy oil and gas and nuke stocks i recon..
and if you think the eletic car will save us, consider this, 1 litre of petrol has more energy then over 1 tonn of battery power. so how are we going to transport goods from interstate like food and houshold items..
We are screwed, and petrol prices can go as high as it likes becase the demand will bemassive and supply will be limited and declining.
If you belive we will stop buying it so it goes down, well like i said above, you will need a job in town, and you will need to grow your own food to avoid the high food costs imported to your town
I cant see no reason why petrol will not be over $5 or more in coming years.. there is no solution
