I thought the market might get some legs last night but the sellers at present have control at price 1677 and above, which is a 1/4 extension level on this contract (level previously sighted as a possible lower top target on s&p500 cash index)

Another angle. The daily and an outside day. No upside follow through would give a bearish tinge to the picture here imo, althought the usual outcomes from sure bars aren't happening atm, unfortunately. Note the blue channel line still in play.
