alot of people when margin called will liquidate everything.
when fear grips a market its more than a $30m a day of transactions.
given january's events with the market, afg, tricom, mfs, subprime, etc i dont think margin calls have little or no impact, they have a massive impact - they provide high gearing leverage and when markets tank, they tank.....
