It depends on the persons circumstances and how long they intend to to own the car. You just have a very narrow view of the world, and believe that everyone should make the same decisions that you do (which is to make a conscious effort to not enjoy life one iota!)
If you intend to replace the car every 2-3 years, leasing will probably be a very good proposition.
If you intend to drive the car for 10 years, then leasing+balloon payment is probably going to be a shitty deal.
