I nearly followed my mates down the corporate road in the field of finance, economics and accounting, but super glad i didnt. I frequent Bali very often since i turned 18, and would like to share a story that i feel is relevant. I made very good friends with an older man who ran a small restaurant from home on a small island east of Bali. Lovely family man who would do anything to help make your day easier. He told me on my 3rd trip that he was going to go blind in one eye, something he said with such a "meh" attitude that it kinda scared me. Long story short was thhat he couldnt afford the operation to fix it at $200. I happily gave him the money, and have gained an amazing relationship in return, but more importantly learnt that we in Australia have an amazing opportunity to have amazing lives. The best judge of a man is how grateful he is with what he already has.
