    Recent research in USA showed that the about 50% of those earning less than $50,000.00 would be in Serious financial difficultly if they lost their job for more than one month.

    Amazingly, the percentage only dropped to about 45% for those earning over $100,000.00.

    I can't find the article but these figures are close.
