dkit - you, as many people, are confused about "belief" and "religious belief".

If I say that I believe it is going to rain tomorrow - that has nothing to do with religion. It is merely saying I have an opinion about the weather tomorrow. This opinion may be right or wrong and it may be completely different to your opinion. But it is merely an opinion.

Religious belief involves the acceptance of supernatural forces that have an influence on human lives. Over the milennia, humans have created and worshiped thousands of gods and godesses. Most of these are no longer even remembered.

To believe in a god means that you have an opinion that a supernatural being exists. Deists or theists believe that gods or gods exist. Athiests do NOT believe that gods or goddesses exist or ever have existed. They are NOT deist believers, no matter what you say.

Agnotistics say that there is no way of proving or disproving that supernatural beings (gods)exist.
