You don't think that Australia as a country and as a people spends too much of our money on property, it has always been the big thing in Australia to own houses as many as possible, could not some of that money been spent in research manufacturing etc
I have heard over the years of so many developments that have been unable to get funding either from the government, big business or private money
So many wonderful inventions and products gone o/seas due to lack of money because it is all spent on bigger and bigger houses, Australian live in the biggest houses in the world.
Sure mining gets a lot of money invested in it but at least regardless of the lack of control, the government do get some financial return unlike personal homes
