"It should be more effective than Relenza as it is a single dose drug. " Who says? You or the drug rep? Relenza itself has never actully been tested it a real life flu epidemic let alone LANI.

LANI/Relenza/Tamiflu are not drugs your average bulk-billing GP will prescribe. They are only effective for flu, caught in its early stages and notoriously difficult to diagnose without expensive tests. Most "flu" is actually a bad cold misdiagnosed. And even if they work, they are only effective for shaving a day off or two off symtoms. Big deal!

LANI/Relenza/Tamiflu are only used in two scenerios.

    1. Catastrophic global birdflu that has mutated to allow person to person spread ( ? the 1917 epidemic). Reference my remarks of getting it out of patent. And before the vaccine gets made and distibuted. ie. governmental stockpiling for doomsday scenerios. ? Never happened yet and if governements take a bet that it won't and keep stockpiles amall ( as they are doing now) they can wait out the Biota and Tamiflu patent period and save themselves and their taxpayers an bundle. And nothing has happened for 90 years and the patents have just another 2 -3 to go....

    2. Paranoid and rich hypochondriacs who take it as a preventative for flu on a long term basis. ( dangerous as well as expensive). Small market.

For Biota to fly again, it would not only have to con its shareholders, it would need to con the world's regulatory authourities to stockpile it : a much harder ask.
