To me looks like just good negotiation tactics by JC.

What the release is doing is not revealing the number of bidders or their offer. Don't give buyers the feeling a current offer MUST be accepted out of desperation. Don't give them an opportunity to collude. Put the pressure back on the bidders - the ball is in their court.

To me, the release says we have a winning bidder and are waiting for a signature / last and final offer.

JC's just keeping them all on their toes.
