If SSM comes out with a major and material contract win of long duration, the share price could well jump significantly. There is also the risk that current share price drops are due to EOFY tax loss selling (risk: in that the share price decline is short term, so risk of missing out)
But this is speculation, I don't invest my capital based on speculation. I want both a return on my capital and a return of my capital (lol call me greedy).
The way I have achieved this over many years is to
a) avoid speculation
b) invest with a margin of safety
c) analyse the historical attributes of the business (this will show whether the underlying business is cyclical, growth, cash cow, sunset etc). For each type of business I will apply different investment criteria on when to enter.
