yes they have cash on hand of $50.5m but I think one needs to look at their balance sheet for further review. As at the half year:
Current Assets: $189m
Current Liabilities: $131m
Surplus: $58 (good so long as not drawn down).
But then delve further:
Receivables: $35m
Payables: $95m
Deficiency: $60m (not good)
So their receivables are not enough to cover their payables.
So part of the cash on hand is needed to balance the difference between receivables and payables.
So I would argue that unless SSM wanted to sail very close to the wind in terms of its cash management risk profile, much of that cash can't be used for acquisition purposes.
Further more if one reviews non-current assets against non current liabilities, the vast majority of non-current assets are intangibles, therefore not hard assets (no problem in itself, but not good for borrowing purposes as an asset class in isolation)
