One major difference. nvidia gpu chips have a massive use case and therefore massive demand. Customers know what to do with the hardware and want to use them asap. Before the AI use case, the gpus were used in fast video gaming. This was a fortuitous pivot and Nvidia cannot keep up with the demand. Everyone who wants to do large scale current AI needs them and needs them yesterday. Now some of this hype will settle down.
the use case for the 12CQ is unknown. Who might potentially want it is unknown. The whole quantum computing industry is still finding out what's possible. So it's a guessing game. The science is solid. But what useful thing can it do that is better than anything now in the real world and market place.
