I probably missed it and someone may have already posted the A....z capital interview Simon did in December. Listened to it now and have a clear picture of Simon's approach.
The 2.1 million R&D tax rebates are enough to extend the development runway of the biochip and TMR sensors or even speed it up if needed. Till they get to the revenue producing point. IMO even software startups find managing runway difficult. Literally today in fact, VCs are advising tech software startups to manage their runways better. Simon seems quite confident that this box is ticked. He sees value in AXE products because they are engineered to be cheaper and superior products overall in target markets. Of course the biochip also addresses a very present need for timely potassium measurement when currently according to their American advice from Boston, dialysis treatment protocols rely on measurements from 2 weeks prior. A quick measurement in minutes is obviously a much better solution.
What I found interesting was that Simon is looking beyond these to a whole pipeline of products down the track. I would term them nano engineered chips for various use cases. If you've done a few, delivered to customers at a reasonable cost, you build on this very valuable experience in today's supply chain. Able to modify designs, pivot. Cannot really put a price on this knowledge base. Also AXE is able to be this lean and nimble because of the partnerships and collaborations. Which Simon did highlight as a feature of AXE. Keeps costs down immensely.
