I haven't turned on my L2 access for the ASX yet, as I'm not trading short-term there (& you Aussies make your access quite pricey compared to elsewhere :0)). However, I can say that I've seen the type of small orders you describe quite commonly in London in various stocks. They're undoubtedly bots operating some sort of trading strategy. Obviously it'd be totally uneconomic for anyone except an insto/market maker with v low cost dealing to do this.

I've never quite figured out what the bots are trying to do.
