    HM = Heavy Minerals,
    Mineral sands, have a higher SG than normal sand, ie quartz, and tend to separate as deposit by wave action on coastlines, similar to gold.
    Magnetite is one of the HM and is detectable with a magnetometer, giving rise to aeromagnetic anomolies, wherever it is found in abundance.
    Find an aeromagnetic anomoly, and you'll probably find all the other HM lurking along with it.
