Believing something is true doesn't make it true. The Universe has no regard for our beliefs. Reality doesn't conform to our desires.
Those that feel they have born again status are no better or worse than the average citizen. It's a form of insurance policy, a ticket to Paradise in an afterlife, a Hope of there being more than what we have been dealt by an uncaring universe.
Harsh? Maybe.
