    The planned constellation will consist of around 200 sats across 5 orbits. That is 40 sats per orbit (this was also confirmed in an announcement). The first planned launch is 16 sats, that's 40% of 40 or one full orbit. As already mentioned I don't know if the first 16 will all be placed in the same orbit or across multiple orbits. In the absence of any better information, I am assuming the first 16 Pearls would provide coverage (to the area under one orbit) close to 40% of the time. Assuming 40% coverage and given each orbit takes 90mins the duration of outages will be short enough to still provide messaging, IOT, M2M, SCADA and some other applications as SAS claims.
    A second launch could see an end to the outage periods in some areas and further launches would continue to bolster the mesh and the capabilities of the network.
    This is just me speculating to fill in the blanks while I wait for the facts.
