Relax, there was never, "nothingness". Even God can't create from absolute nothingness. In fact everything that exists now has existed in one form or another without beginning and will do so into an infinite future.
And as for your next post, re the atrocities of OT religion. The Flood, talking snakes, Adam and Eve, etc, are all symbolic. Yes a few of our religious friends read these stories and get a bit overwhelmed and in their childlike enthusiasm, and with a bit of coaching from the sidelines, well they lose all sense of reality.
As for the hailstorms, fires, plagues, etc, these are natural phenomena that have been with us since the beginning of time, but the fanatically religious, who have an enormous capacity for self-worth and place themselves as the primal purpose for the existence of God, see in each of these natural events the actions of a vengeful God, interceding on their behalf.
In my case:-
The Sumatra earthquake killed 230,000 people in 2004, because an Asian won powerball that week and I didn't.
Tangshan earthquake, China 1976, 240,000 killed, because I got a bad dimmy in a Chinese takeaway that made me a bit crook.
Haiti earthquake, 2010, 316,000 killed, because a coloured person laughed at how I had no rhythm when I danced.
So you see, God does protect His own.
