In NZ, really? Certainly was not my understanding but am keen to know more..!
So, in order to be able to write off capital losses against current or future income, did you have to set yourself up as a "Trader" when you purchased your original shares or are you suggesting that any individual taxpayer can do this when they get an investment wrong? Did you receive professional advice on this or is this your personal interpretation?
