They've got a bucket full of cash ready to use on a project(s) - don't have to go to the market to raise capital, no debt, property investments, gold royalties not far off, and currently trading at half cash backing. They also have the gold/copper project at North Parkes - they've recently extended exploration licence for another year
There are two potential coal projects - one in NSW, waiting on licence approval, and a 50% jv (early talks) in QLD. The Hudson Group (HRS/HGL) bought a substantial holding in GUL Apr09 (paying 10c per share) my guess is they are tied up in the coal projects.
From what I've read, the NSW govt is very keen to get mining ventures off the ground and are throwing their support behind people who have the means, like GUL.
And the recent trading of larger than usual parcels indicates something is going on.
When that "something" is announced anyone buying at current sp will double their money very quickly,imo.
