Sold in late 2008. Invested entire proceeds into shares in March 2009 at the darkest hour of the GFC. (Dow was six thousand something - ASX 200 was around 3100).

Although, about a 3rd of my stock portfolio had their SP at the lowesst in Nov 2008.

I had been pinching myself for a while.

I saw trouble on the horizon in property in late 2008 (and property was already trending down).

2 things completely unforeseen.

(1) How low the stock market ended up (I seized the opportunity - bought battered shares predominantly in resources and materials). Don't ask me how much capital gains I've made.

(2) RBA and Government panicked (emergency rates and FHOG respectively). Which IMO has inflated the bubble and exascerbated the household debt timebomb to a whole new level and with the fuel taken away, the implosion is imminent.
