personally I think all the stuff about 'de-risking' and 'risk aversion' was just baloney and likely an excuse. Pharma usually picks things up in early phase development if it's interested, phase 1 or 2, so in theory this thing should be sufficiently "de-risked". The only way you could totally 'de-risk' something would be to do the full development to finish phase 3 yourself and get a regulatory approval and then try to sell it, but who does that? As for 'risk aversion' I reckon in this case what it actually means is big Pharma being 'risk averse' to technology that it doesn't rate in the first place.
