Catholic Germans mercilessly killed Catholic Americans and vice versa. Why didn't the Pope try and intercede before all of this started? Didn't they have freedom before the war? Their spiritual leaders let them down and so many millions of people lost their lives including JW's. Thanks to their religious leaders freedom was taken away.

As an atheist I don't support any atrocities committed by Christians, or any other theists, which included Hitler, or atheists.

Do you think that the Catholic Church could have stopped Hitler in Germany or apartheid in South Africa? In the case of Hitler Nazism became the state religion, and the Catholic Church and JWs were powerless to stop that.

The causes of WW2 go back to the treatment of Germany at the end of WW1. I'm not condoning what they did but the causes of WW2 had little to do with religion. The causes of WW2 were the same factors that resulted in the religion of Nazism being able to flourish. In that sense WW2 and Nazism had the same causes.

At least the Allies didn't repeat that mistake after WW2.

Religion was caught up in the events of the time and couldn't see the wood for the trees.

In the end Hitler had to be stopped and millions lost their lives to do so.
