I think the answer is simpler than most people think, it all comes down to *happiness*. We only really have rules and morals learned into us because someone somewhere wasnt happy with the actions of others.
Some of the social issues in the bible that are a bit forced like marriage, anti-gay etc, will continue to go out the window in the future because what someone else does shouldnt matter to you no matter how whacko or bad we think they might be. By the same token past rules were incomplete, it wouldve been nice if Moses had an 11th commandment saying 'Dont be a pedophile'. Would be a lot more important than most of the other rules in the bible. I was brought up with a lot of bible quotes, but the more i think about them the less future proof they seem.
I dont know much about buddhism but i suspect theyre scripture is great with what you are asking. If i had to choose id probably be buddhist but im not a spiritual person at all and probably never will be.
