Unfortunately if other nations give in to mainland communist China, it doesn't respect that other nation, and instead makes more and more demands so in the end, a country risks becoming a 'client state'.
The USA and especially Canada have also faced pressure from mainland China.
We can't compromise our democratic values. That would be a slippery slope.
China is not self sufficient in every respect. They'll be back, although in some categories like wine, affecting TWE, it may take a while, or a visit by ScoMo to Beijing.
