I grew up with Goldie the artist in the Auckland museum.
I digress,as is my wont,the fine art also became the black art,as enterprising Maori realised that the art form was in demand.And so a good trade in human tattooed heads was born.
In order to get more into the FEDEX so to speak,they predated Japanese miniaturisation,the heads were hollowed out,filled with sand and cool smoked to the size of a softball.
