'some naysayers ready to talk you out of your ideas and telling you times are different now' i guess that's maybe in reference to my first post, but had to google 'taurus exreta' in english 'bullshit conquers brains' i think maybe you should have just said 'to that i say bs'.

Agree having a trade to fall back on a great in general suggestion.

If it was my post you were referring to imo over past 20 years times have changed,my industry is now in china along with the business i sold and the tooling, and the tool makers i used etc etc.Definitely what i did 30 years ago could not and would not make any sense to try and do now in australia.Yes you could try and do it in china but imo what i did 30 years ago was much safer for many reasons to do in australia 30 years ago than to try and do in china 30 years ago or today.

I definitely have no intentions of talking stefan out of his ideas but one of his suggestions was import/export and that's fine as long as you know your product and source of supply way more than your competition.

Of course if its a new idea and your starting off with one product try and at least get one major behind you ,for me it was woolworths,if its a good idea and you start by supplying smaller retailers you open yourself up to being knocked off by bigger suppliers thats if china doesn't copy your product first, opps being to negative again.

Andy great to hear you transformed from fitter and turner to your own business, similar carpenters to home builders. All good stuff.
    cheers
