For what the QLD GOV,and "others" may/may not do is just
the opening round,in a contest of the "first magnitude",
for this planet is on the cusp of an energy shortage,
that's never been experienced before in human history.

Australia being coal rich,we have to go down the coal
road, for there is far less Arab oil than is believed

For example..Fridays FR page 14.....
The Rudd Gov aims to have 20 "large" demonstration
projects to develop commercially viable clean coal and
gas ..up and running by 2020.

After weeks of intense behind the scenes negotiations
to get countries and "companies" on board,the Rudd Gov
will launch the institute next month.

........the UK,South Korea,Norway, have already agreed
to join the institute as founding members,along with..

Shell international petroleum
Alstom power
Anglo American
the climate group
Mitsubishi corp
Rio Tinto
Services petroliers
Schlumberger
Xstrata coal
Bill Clintons philanthropic foundation.

However ..far more companies and governments are
expected to join up after the institute is launched
.....$100 million is allocated for the institute,
which aims to accelerate the development and deployment
of technologies to reduce emissions from coal.....

especially CCS by facilitating demonstration projects
and identifying suitable regulatory and legal requirements

On another tack....A CTL seminar just finished in Jakarta
[19/20 Jan]...the room was packed...The Facilitator was
Dr Duncan Seddon an Australian consultant to the oil/gas
petro chemical industries,who has been involved with the
production,and use of transport fuels,and commodity
chemicals for thirty years...he is a fellow of the
Royal Aust Chemical Institute,and a member of Petroleum
Engineers.

Finally UCG is spreading "rapidly" across the Globe,
soon to be embraced in Australia.
