Labor MP Jo-Ann Miller boasts opposing Anna Bligh on asset sales in re-election bid
QUEENSLAND Labor MP Jo-Ann Miller is campaigning for re-election on her opposition to the Bligh government's controversial assets sales, claiming she has been made to "pay the price" for her vocal attacks on the $17 billion privatisation program.
The outspoken MP for the safe Labor seat of Bundamba, west of Brisbane -- who voted to support the asset sales, despite her stance -- turned on Premier Anna Bligh, saying she believed she had been sidelined for promotion because of her comments since the privatisation program was announced after the 2009 election.
Ms Miller, who holds her seat with a 21 per cent margin, has distributed leaflets throughout her sprawling electorate boasting of vocal opposition to the asset sales. "(But) I had no choice, caucus had to vote in a bloc and we were not allowed to have a conscience vote on the issue," she said.
