This whole protest thing is getting out of hand. Especially with Bob Brown and the Australian Greens getting themselves involved - they love a good "cause".

Lynas needs to be MUCH more proactive.

    1. They need to contact Bob Brown, and try to get him ONside - after all, Lynas is part of the essential supply line for green technology. They need to convince him that Lynas is a GOOD thing, and that the whole protest movement is a hijack job by politicians over there. He needs to have it pointed out to him, in a pleasant but convincing way, that the LAMP is NOT a nuclear plant, radioactivity is NOT a problem, and that it is a regular chemical processing plant like many others already established at Gebeng. He needs to have a word in the ear of the Lee Rhiannon/Robin Chapple types and others in his party, and suggest that perhaps it isn't such a good idea to hitch their wagons to this particular cause. But for him to do that, Lynas really needs to get him onside first.

    2. As I've said before, Lynas really, REALLY needs to hire a good professional PR company to get saturation in the media, both in Australia and in Malaysia. It needs to point out that the plant is NOT a radioactive threat, the water will NOT cause multi-headed fish or broccoli-eared goats, and will not be any different to other petrochemical plants already there in Gebeng. It needs to highlight in a clever way that the whole protest movement has been hijacked by politicians who have stirred the fear and panic of the locals based on completely groundless arguments using deliberate misinformation. I'm not the PR expert, so I don't know how they would do that convincingly enough to cut through all the emotive hype and panic. You only need to read what all the posters put on Facebook like little parrots to see the completely irrational panic that Fuziah Saleh and her team have caused.

    3. Lynas BADLY needs to get proactive and fight the PR war aggressively. It will be a tricky tightrope to walk so as not to appear to be a "snow job" - as we all know that it isn't one, but it's not us that Lynas needs to convince.

    4. Again - enlisting the aid of Bob Brown and the Greens to actually COUNTER the protests gently may be of some help - but Lynas would need to convince them of the truth first. We all know how the Greens just love a "cause" and are highly likely to side with the protesters automatically, without even considering the facts of the case. Lynas needs to address this - perhaps the Greens here may have some sway with the Malaysian protesters?

But at the moment, the momentum seems to be growing, against all logic and against all science. Even against the protester's own nuclear expert, who was gagged by the opposition party he belongs to.

Come on Lynas - get onto it NOW...!!!
