You must not only get your facts tright but also in perspective. None of the NAM members are the product of their own making and for starters the stuff you accuse them are the same kind of rubbish that The US and Australia under a tightly controlled 'free media' regime dish out to its people.

Democracy as you and others like yourself including the stupi Irene Fernandez espouse is not available anywhere else. There are no utopian states for us to emulate and even if they existed, culturally they would be different from those that you seek to impose it upon.

It is now an offence to carricature the British Prime Minister. Trial without detention is still on the statute books of 'Great Britain'. They call it internment. ISA was introduced into Malaysia by the British. The USA also offers the very democratic detention without trial. Just add the label Terrorist to an individual and you justify it in the USA. Your country Australia, well you can now enter the homes of Muslims and Arabs or anyone you do not like and even sink their boats, kill 352 innocent women and children, lie to parliament inspite of the evidence to the contrary then call yourself democratic.

Dr. Mahahtir never started the tit for tat across the great divide. You ad your ilk like the Irish Navvy, the potatioe hawking Paul Keating, took the insults to a higher level than his pre decessor Bob Hawke.

Dr. Mahathir has a right to and exercised that right to say what a lot of people wanted to for a long time. And factually he is correct. The so called Human rights activists you speak of can be seen on MalaysiaKini that undemocratic rag on the internet that censors anyone who even criticises John Howard. The pre requisite for publication on that rag is condemnation of Dr. mahathir at all costs and praise for Anwar Ibrahim and his cronies.

Anwar Ibrahim is the single most dangerous politician in Malysia. He was in government for more than a decade. A power hungry zealot in disguise as a democrat. he was the first individual who travelled under his privileged position as a cabinet minister of any country to greet the Ayathollah Khomeni following the over thron of the shah. He then returned and encouraged his 'flock' to cover themselves Arabic style, something alien to Malaysian Sunni Muslims.

Anwars idea of rising to the heights of power comes from a divine message he received from his Imam some years ago. At any cost. He then decided to use Madeline Albright as a backdrop for his naked power grab by attempting to usher the masses into the streets if Mahatir did not step aside. So much for a democrat. He eschewed parliament and used his old style of getting the peasants, mainly uneducated or partially educated Malays into the streets. he would have eventually succumbed to a theocracy because his allies are all theocrats. Those who cheer in the sidelines like fernandez have their own egos and agendas and as history has so often shown they fall on their own swords.

If Mahathir was so disliked by a majority he would have been ousted a long time ago. he is not and he will remain. If Anwar is as honest as he claims, then the misdeeds of the government were there when he first entered parliament more than a decade ago and if they are wrong today they were wrong then.

It is not Dr. Mahathir that you ought to worry about, he is merely the messenger. It is the danger you as a people are in having been traded in like so much cheap scrap by a prime minister and a compliant media of powerful interests who will not be there to pick up the pieces when you are in the sights of 'Terrorists' like you are now.

Just for history's sake. Mahatma Gandhi, Jawarhalal Nehru, Lee Kuan Yew (yes good old Harry lee) were all branded and labelled Communists and Terrorists by the British government who were as desperate then to hold to power as they are today.
