I have been mulling over the quarterly report and the reserve/resource announcement.
Some nine months ago a leading shareholder (not Frank or Bevan) told me that Barrick was "intensely interested" in Carrick. So far this hasn't translated into an offer otherwise we would know about it.
I have a feeling what happened was Barrick told Frank to go back and do some more detailed work and come back when it was completed. They may have felt the reserve and resource figures were too imprecise or rubbery.
For many months now there has been almost total silence from management and now the release of these detailed maps in the past two quarterly reports.
I suspect that the four million ounces is now much more real than the previously announced figures and would satisfy any potential buyer as to their authenticity.
This is all pure speculation of course. It is just my hypothesis.
It is quite possible that Frank and co have been quietly preparing to either sell the tenements with proven reserves or actually to start mining and toll treatment. They did talk of the possibility of toll treatment in a recent report.
At some point they will no doubt tell us what is happening.
The current share price reflect the market's uncertainty as to what is happening and Frank only has himself to blame for that for being so uncommunicative and not forthcoming on his plans for the future.
