By "they" i assume you mean we, the growers, who took out a lease on the land for 15 years
As far as i'm concerned, me and the other 100? people in the 2016 MIS are the ones who have to stay afloat. What we get in 12-13 years time, or possibly more, is something we can't control. That's the same for all commodities
If anyone still likes forestry MIS, the ones in NZ work quite well and are solvent. See Roger Dickie or Forestry Enterprises. Small groups of 25~30 investors who buy the land, grow their own trees and associate with other MIS's to gain scale. The first rotation is being cut now. Average return 12% compound per year x 26 years
Oz could do a good job and just replicate the model
